Why transform your existing fleet to electric.

There are not enough electrically powered heavy excavators on the market to satisfy the demand in the construction business. The introduction of more and more national and European regulations around emissions is powering the demand for electrical construction equipment. This demand, however, cannot be satisfied by the traditional construction equipment suppliers at the moment.

Retrofit existing equipment.

In order to fill this gap, Spirra retrofits existing construction equipment converting it to electric. We remove the old diesel motor and fuel tank and in the space that comes free we place the exchangeable battery and e-motor.

No waiting for charging.

By using exchangeable batteries there is no waiting for charging. The same as swapping batteries on a cordless drill. In under 5 minutes the empty battery is on the Spirra charging station and the a fresh battery is in the equipment. A typical crawler excavator of 20 to 30 tons will swap out the battery only once per day.

Equipment performance.

The motor – battery combination is tuned to replicate the old diesel motor performance. The idea behind this is the rest of the machine, hydraulics etc receives exactly what it would ‘expect’ from the old diesel motor. This keeps modification to an absolute minimum. The operator will not experience any change in machine behaviour.

The only difference is he now has watch the battery gauge instead in the fuel gauge.

Charging station.

Spirra supplies the complete package: retrofitted equipment with reserve battery, charging station with a high power 3-phase electrical supply. This makes the transition a smooth and trouble free experience.
